Gwendolyn D. Pough

Gwendolyn D. Pough is a Professor of Women's and Gender Studies and holds the title of Dean's Professor of the Humanities at Syracuse University's College of Arts & Sciences. She serves as the Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility, advancing institutional equity initiatives. Her affiliations include the African American Studies program and the Department of Women's and Gender Studies.

Her research focuses on intersections of Black womanhood, hip-hop culture, and public discourse. Key works include Check It While I Wreck It: Black Womanhood, Hip-Hop Culture, and the Public Sphere (2004) and co-editing Home Girls Make Some Noise!: Hip-Hop Feminism Anthology (2007). These publications explore the cultural, social, and political dimensions of Black feminist identities within hip-hop.
