Guibo Sun

Dr. Guibo Sun is a Lecturer in Urban Planning at the University of Manchester. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor at The University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on large-scale infrastructure impacts, including social, economic, and health outcomes of urban development projects. He specializes in natural experiments and experimental economics to assess infrastructure governance.

Research Interests: Urban infrastructure planning, land policy, transport systems, public health impacts, and experimental methods in governance. Key regions of expertise include China, Southeast Asia, and Hong Kong.

Impact & Engagement: Led the creation of Hong Kong’s 3D pedestrian network database. Served on Hong Kong’s Buildings Department Technical Committee (2017–2023) to improve urban accessibility for vulnerable groups. Founded and directed the Urban Infrastructure Transition Lab (uLab-Infrastructure).
