Gro Bjørnerud

Gro Bjørnerud is a Professor of French Literature and Cultural Studies at the Department of French Literature, Faculty of Arts, University of Oslo. Her career spans administrative leadership as Pro-Rector (2017–2021) and Vice-Dean for Studies and Education (2007–2014), alongside academic roles in Oslo and Stavanger. She holds a Dr.Art. from the University of Oslo (1999).

• Research Focus: 16th-17th century French poetry, rhetoric, and history; modernist-medieval intersections; ecocritique; memory in postcolonial contexts; classical mythology in Renaissance verse.

Her publications explore François de Malherbe's prosody, Joachim Du Bellay's Rome, and Alice Zeniter's memory narratives, blending historical analysis with theoretical frameworks. She has contributed to debates on plagiarism, intertextuality, and cultural reception.
