Kjell Johan Sæbø is Professor of Germanic Linguistics at University of Oslo's Faculty of Humanities. His research explores semantic theory, pragmatics, and German-Norwegian comparative syntax. Educated at Stanford (PhD) and Hebrew University, he directs the Mandel Center for Jewish Education and edits academic publications in semantics.
His work examines mood systems, information structure, and cross-linguistic semantic patterns. Recent publications analyze counterfactual mood across Slavic/Germanic languages and polarity subjunctives. He developed graduate courses on deixis and tense/aspect semantics and has held visiting positions at University of Chicago and Arctic University of Norway.
