Prof. Gregor Witt is a Full Professor of Oboe and Chamber Music at the Rostock University of Music and Drama since 2015. He began teaching there in 2004 and has trained numerous solo oboists who have won international competitions such as the ARD Munich and Markneukirchen. His career includes roles as principal oboist with the Staatskapelle Berlin and Komische Oper Berlin under Daniel Barenboim.
- Education: Studied oboe at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin (1985–1989).
- Performance: Guest artist across Europe, Japan, Americas, and Israel; collaborates with renowned artists like Daniel Barenboim and Julia Fischer.
- Ensembles: Member of Staatskapelle Berlin’s woodwind quintet and founder/co-leader of Mecklenburgische Bläserakademie (since 2006).
Research interests focus on oboe pedagogy and chamber music interpretation. Recordings include the 2015 solo CD 'my oboe' featuring Schumann’s Romances with Barenboim.
Active in masterclasses globally (USA, Scandinavia, Asia) and orchestral leadership roles.
