Grace Gibson

Grace Gibson serves as an Assistant Instructor in the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas at Austin, teaching undergraduate Latin courses since Fall 2021. She holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin and specializes in Roman archaeology and Classics education.

Research Interests

Her work centers on Pompeii and Bay of Naples archaeology, analyzing ancient graffiti to understand social dynamics in domestic and gendered spaces. She integrates digital archaeology with studies of Roman bathing practices, masculinity, healthcare, and gynecology, while advocating for accessibility in Classics. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges material culture analysis with social history to explore daily life in antiquity.

Ms. Gibson has taught LAT 511K (Accelerated Intermediate Latin) in Fall 2023 (hybrid, Mondays 2:00-3:00 PM) and Fall 2021 (hybrid, Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays 1:00-2:00 PM), alongside LAT 506 (First-Year Latin I) in Fall 2022 (hybrid, MWF 11:00 AM-12:00 PM) and LAT 507 (First-Year Latin II) in Spring 2022 (hybrid, MWF 12:00-1:00 PM), demonstrating consistent engagement with foundational Latin instruction.
