Erin Brantmayer

Erin Brantmayer serves as an Assistant Instructor in the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas at Austin, teaching courses including Alexander/Hellenistic World (AHC 325/HIS 351D) and First-Year Latin (LAT 506).

Her academic credentials are:

Brantmayer specializes in landscape and environmental archaeology across the eastern Mediterranean, Black Sea, and Levant regions. She integrates digital applications, GIS, and archaeological science to analyze how ancient peripheral communities exploited natural environments, with current projects examining Greek colonization's impact on Aegean and Black Sea wetlands. Her fieldwork spans Tel Kabri and Birsama in Palestine, Morgantina in Sicily, Mafia Island in Tanzania, Antiocha ad Cragnum in Turkey, and Histria in Romania, focusing on Bronze Age contexts and mobile group survival strategies in arid landscapes.
