Associate Professor Goylette Chami is an infectious disease epidemiologist affiliated with the Big Data Institute (BDI) within Oxford Population Health. She holds a PhD and MPhil from the University of Cambridge and previously served as a Junior Research Fellow in Medical Sciences at King’s College, Cambridge.
Her research focuses on schistosomiasis, including
- Transmission dynamics
- Granular spatial evaluation
- Hepatosplenic multimorbidity
- Clinical and social consequences of co-infections
- Integration of disease management into primary healthcare
She collaborates with the Uganda Ministry of Health and contributes to global health policy through roles in WHO and African Union initiatives. In 2021, she received the Odile Bain Memorial Prize for her work in medical parasitology.
