Gitte Meldgaard Abrahamsen is an Associate Professor of Family and Inheritance Law at the Department of Law, Aalborg University, within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on property law aspects within family law, particularly pension rights in separation and divorce. She holds a PhD from 2013 on pension rights treatment during marital dissolution.
Teaching includes family and inheritance law at the bachelor’s level, and advanced courses like 'Family Property Law' and 'Children’s Law – Private Law' at the master’s level. She has received multiple 'Teacher of the Year in Law' awards between 2013–2023.
Research affiliations include the Nordic Center for Comparative and International Family Law, Civil Law Group, and SPARC (Social, Public and Administrative Law Research Centre). Recent activities include participation in workshops on assisted reproductive technology law and Nordic family law seminars.
