Giovanna Steyaert

Giovanna Steyaert is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern Languages at Ursinus College. She specializes in Spanish language education, focusing on oral proficiency assessment and certified by ACTFL as an OPI and AAPPL tester/rater.

• B.A. in Education from Instituto Pedagógico Nacional Monterrico
• M.Sc. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Edinburgh

Her research interests center on language assessment methodologies, community-engaged pedagogy, and cross-cultural education. She has directed the Ursinus in Madrid program multiple times and integrates service learning into her courses through initiatives like tutoring programs for Pottstown's Hispanic community.
