Giorgio Ravegnani

Giorgio Ravegnani is a Professor of Medieval History at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice, affiliated with the Department of Humanities under the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy. He has held significant roles including President of the History degree program, President of the Humanities Library, and Director of the Department of Historical Studies.

• Research Focus: Byzantine Italy, Venetian-Byzantine relations, Roman Empire decline, medieval military history, and Crusades.
• Teaching: Medieval History (undergraduate), History of Byzantine Italy, and Medieval Military History (Master's).

His recent publications explore Byzantine military strategies, Venetian political history, and late Roman empresses. Notable works include monographs on Ezio (Salerno, 2018) and Giustiniano (Carocci, in preparation). His scholarship bridges Byzantine studies with interdisciplinary perspectives on cultural and political transitions.
