Gina Tuzzi

Gina Tuzzi is a Lecturer in the Department of Art & Film at California Polytechnic Humboldt. Born in Santa Cruz, California, she holds a BA in Painting and Printmaking from Humboldt State University and an MFA in Painting from Mills College. Her work explores intersections of nature, mythology, and spirituality through acrylic and mixed media on panel and paper.

Gina's research and artistic practice focuses on Painting & Drawing, with recurring motifs like lunar symbolism, ecological consciousness, and mythological reinterpretations. Her artworks often blend environmental themes with feminist narratives, incorporating elements such as reclaimed redwood and photocopy techniques.

Recent works (2023-2025) demonstrate a strong engagement with mythology (Artemis, Pallas Athena, Chicomecoatl), spirituality (Mother Temple, La Malinche), and nature (Riparian Jewellflower, The Meaning of Water). She frequently uses acrylic on panel and paper-based mixed media to explore these themes.
