About
Gilles Mailhot is a CNRS Research Director 1st class at the Université Clermont Auvergne, affiliated with the Laboratory of Meteorology Physics. He holds roles such as Director of the Federation of Environmental Research (FRE) and has served as President of the ANR Chemistry Committee. His research focuses on environmental chemistry, photochemistry, and advanced oxidation processes for water treatment. Notable awards include the Shanghai International Science and Technology Cooperation Award (2014) and the CNRS Scientific Excellence Price (2014-2017). He has extensive collaborations internationally and contributes to EU H2020 programs. His work spans atmospheric chemistry, water treatment technology, and environmental remediation.
Education: HDR (Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches) in Chemistry (1997), PhD in Physical Chemistry (1991), both from Université Blaise Pascal.
Research Interests: Iron chemistry in water, advanced oxidation processes (Fenton/Photo-Fenton), atmospheric chemistry in cloud aqueous phases, and environmental aquatic systems.
Responsibilities: Director of the FRE (2012–present), ANR Committee member, and international research advisor (2012–2016).
Publications: Over 50 peer-reviewed articles on topics like Fenton-like reactions, pollutant degradation mechanisms, and environmental remediation technologies. Recent work emphasizes photochemical processes and nanomaterials in water treatment.
