About
Karine BALLERAT BUSSEROLLES is a Senior Research Engineer and Associate Researcher at Mines ParisTech, affiliated with the Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA). She serves as Deputy Director of the ICCF (Clermont-Ferrand Institute of Chemistry) and coordinates Scientific, Technical, and Administrative Research Services (SSTAR). Her roles include membership in the ICCF Management Committee, Finance Committee, and Executive Board of the Thermodynamics group of the French Society of Process Engineering.
Her research focuses on thermodynamic properties of CO2 dissolution in aqueous solutions, particularly amine solutions and saline solutions under extreme conditions (up to 623 K and 40 MPa). She has led international projects including the ANR-funded DACOOTA and SiModEx initiatives, and coordinates the European H2020 GEOPRO project (2019–2023). Key technical expertise includes experimental determination of volumetric, calorimetric, and phase equilibrium properties.
Education includes a PhD in Physical Chemistry (1995, Blaise Pascal University) and an HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches, 2013). She has held postdoctoral positions at Brigham Young University (USA) and Mulhouse’s Institute of Surface Chemistry. Professional activities include jury memberships for CNRS and HCERES evaluations, and teaching in theoretical/analytical chemistry and process engineering.
