Giang Tran

Giang Tran is an Assistant Professor in Economics at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management, Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). She is completing her Ph.D. in Economics at Maastricht University and Université libre de Bruxelles, with an M.Sc. in Economic and Financial Research from Maastricht University. Her research focuses on individual decision-making in interpersonal contexts, integrating insights from microeconomic theory, behavioral economics, and experimental methods. Key topics include other-regarding preferences, risk preferences, and loss aversion.

She is affiliated with the Department of Values, Technology and Innovation and the Economics of Technology and Innovation section. Her work explores how social norms and values influence economic behavior, with applications to design for societal impact. Giang collaborates actively in interdisciplinary projects and teaches courses related to behavioral and experimental economics.

Notable publications include studies on charitable giving under risk (Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, 2017) and game-theoretic metrics of competitiveness/cooperativeness (American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, 2022). Her research has been presented at international conferences and contributes to both theoretical and applied economic discourse.
