Horst Zank

Prof. Horst Zank is Professor of Microeconomics at the University of Manchester's School of Social Sciences, Department of Economics. He holds a PhD in Economics from Maastricht University and a Mathematics degree from RWTH Aachen University. His career includes positions as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader, and Professor at Manchester, plus a visiting professorship at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Zank's research focuses on decision-making under risk/uncertainty, behavioral economics, and experimental economics. Key areas include prospect theory, time preferences, loss aversion, and axiomatic foundations of choice models. His work integrates economic theory with empirical evidence to develop models for theoretical and practical applications.

His recent publications demonstrate consistent focus on refining prospect theory, developing parametric probability weighting functions, and examining time-risk interactions. Articles frequently address reference dependence, probability distortion, and behavioral anomalies in decision-making.
