Dr. Germany Andrea is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Social Work at The University of Texas at Arlington’s School of Social Work, where she also previously served as Director of Field Education. She holds a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) from Tulane University (2021), a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies (BS) from the University of Southern Mississippi (2002 and 2000 respectively). Her work focuses on mental health access, young widowhood challenges, fetal/childhood maltreatment, and applying critical race theory to social work practice.
Research Interests: Dr. Andrea’s research addresses systemic barriers in mental health treatment, socioecological factors affecting vulnerable populations, and innovative interventions like the WHO’s Problem Management Plus. She emphasizes field education’s role in closing healthcare gaps and advocating for equity in schools through culturally responsive practices.
