Gerhard P. Fettweis is the Vodafone Chair Professor at Dresden University of Technology since 1994, leading research in wireless transmission, chip design, and Tactile Internet systems. He earned his Ph.D. from RWTH Aachen in 1990, and held positions at IBM Research and TCSI Inc. before joining TU Dresden. His work is supported by 20 global companies and two DFG centers: cfaed and HAEC.

His research focuses on enabling ultra-low-latency communication systems for applications like the Tactile Internet in unlicensed bands. He has coordinated major funded projects exceeding EUR 500 million and spun out 11 startups in Dresden.
