Gerben van der Vegt

Gerben van der Vegt is a Professor of Organizational Behavior at the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Economics and Business, Department of HRM & OB. He holds a PhD (cum laude) from the University of Groningen and degrees from Utrecht University. His research focuses on team dynamics, including composition, diversity, membership changes, and performance management. He has served as Director of the Research Institute SOM (2015–2021) and Director of the Master in Human Resource Management program (2005–2007). Currently, he is also a Visiting Professor at Hong Kong Baptist University.

Recent work emphasizes team boundary management, disruption resilience, and newcomer integration. He serves on editorial boards for Academy of Management Journal and Organization Science. His advising includes 10 supervised works, focusing on organizational behavior and team dynamics. His lab explores interdisciplinary approaches to team performance and organizational challenges.
