George Wright is a Professor in the Department of Management Science at Strathclyde Business School, University of Strathclyde, where he teaches scenario thinking and decision analysis in the Full-Time MBA programme. He has held prior academic positions at Leeds University Business School, London Business School, Durham Business School, and Warwick Business School, where he served in leadership roles including Associate Dean and Acting Director. He was awarded a Doctor of Science (DSc) by Warwick University in 2013.
His educational background includes a BSc, MPhil, and PhD in Psychology from London and Brunel Universities. His research centers on behavioral decision making, scenario thinking, and improving judgment in strategic contexts. He is recognized globally as the most productive and most cited author in scenario research, with over 24,000 Google Scholar citations and an h-index of 64.
Wright's recent and ongoing research includes developing antifragile methodologies in scenario planning, analyzing causation in intuitive logics, and improving stakeholder engagement through scenario improvisation. His work spans laboratory and organizational settings, with applications in public policy, energy transition, healthcare, and national security. He has led a £1.1 million US intelligence-funded project on group-based judgment and is currently involved in projects related to nature-inspired acoustics and sustainable health systems in Scotland.
His publications appear in top journals such as Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, European Journal of Operational Research, and Technological Forecasting and Social Change. He has edited special issues on Delphi and scenario methodology and is the founding Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Behavioral Decision Making and Editor-in-Chief of Futures & Foresight Science.

He is co-director of the Leverhulme Doctoral School in Nature Inspired Acoustics and leads interdisciplinary research initiatives focused on resilience, sustainability, and foresight capabilities.
