April Wright is Professor of Organization Studies at Warwick Business School, University of Warwick. She is an organizational theorist whose research employs qualitative field methods to investigate how institutions are created, changed, maintained, and disrupted, with a particular focus on professional work and the custodianship of values and places.

Professor Wright’s scholarship is organized around two core streams:

• Institutional and Organizational Change: Using ethnographic and qualitative field methods to explore how professions, values, and places are shaped and sustained across contexts such as hospital emergency departments and English cricket.
• Management Learning & Education: Investigating threshold concept learning, evidence-based management, and innovative pedagogies including team-based and experiential learning.

Her work integrates insights from institutional theory, professional identity, and socio-material perspectives to advance understanding of organizing practices.

Across the past decade, Professor Wright has published extensively in top-tier journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Organization Studies, and Journal of Management Studies.
