About
George O'Doherty is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Northeastern University, Boston, MA. His research focuses on organic synthesis, particularly carbohydrate and natural product synthesis, aimed at developing anti-cancer, anti-viral, and anti-microbial therapeutics.
Using a methodology of De Novo Asymmetric Synthesis, O'Doherty's lab specializes in asymmetric catalysis to transform inexpensive achiral starting materials into enantiopure products. This approach enables Stereochemical-Structure Activity Relationship (S-SAR) studies and biomedical testing of complex molecules with biological relevance.
