George Larkin is Professor and Chair of Filmmaking at Woodbury University's School of Media : Culture : Design. His creative and scholarly work explores film production history, post-production praxis, and industry-education integration.
Larkin's research examines technological transitions in cinema, particularly the silent-to-sound era's impact on labor practices, as documented in his book Post-Production: The Invisible Revolution of Filmmaking (Routledge, 2018). His recent documentary The Exchange Girl investigates women's hazardous work in early film post-production.
With professional experience spanning indie films like David O. Russell's Flirting With Disaster and television development, Larkin bridges industry practice with academic instruction. He established extensive industry partnerships, facilitating student opportunities at studios including Pixar, LucasFilm, and NBCUniversal.
