George Economides

George Economides is a Professor of Economics at the Department of International & European Economic Studies, School of Economic Sciences, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He holds a B.Sc. from AUEB, an M.Sc. from the University of York (UK), and a Ph.D. from AUEB. He previously served as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Cyprus (2001-2002) and is a Research Fellow at CESifo (Munich) and the Bank of Greece's Climate Change Impacts Study Committee (CCISC). His research focuses on Macroeconomic Theory and Policy, particularly the application of dynamic stochastic general equilibrium models to public sector reforms and climate change impacts on economic policy.

His academic contributions include over 35 journal articles and co-authored books such as The Economics of Climate Change and A Blueprint for Exiting the Crisis: A New Model of Production for Greece. He serves as Associate Editor of Environment and Development Economics and has guest-edited sections for European Journal of Political Economy and CESifo Economic Studies. His work addresses fiscal sustainability, public debt management, climate change adaptation, and the macroeconomic implications of policy interventions.

Notable research themes include the interplay between tax policy and structural reforms, the role of central banks in stabilizing economies under climate change, and the analysis of Greece's economic crises and recovery mechanisms. His recent articles explore topics like EU bailout loan repayment strategies, the ECB's role during crises, and the integration of climate change into macroeconomic modeling.
