Dr. Geoffrey S. Smith is a Professor at Florida International University's Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences. His research focuses on foundations of computer security, particularly quantitative information flow and techniques for controlling sensitive information leakage. He completed his PhD in Computer Science at Cornell University in 1991 and has held visiting positions at École Polytechnique (France), IMDEA Software (Spain), and Macquarie University (Australia).
Dr. Smith is an ACM Distinguished Scientist (2013) and won the NSA's Best Scientific Cybersecurity Paper Competition in 2014 for his work on additive and multiplicative notions of leakage. His forthcoming book 'The Science of Quantitative Information Flow' will be published by Springer.
