Dr Gearoid O Domagain is a Lecturer in Modern Irish at the School of Arts & Humanities, Ulster University (Belfast campus). He holds a 1st class BA in Irish Language and Literature (2005) and a PhD on linguistic contact in the Donegal Gaeltacht (2009). Since 2011, he has served as an Academic Fellow in Irish and Celtic Studies, focusing on dictionary compilation for Collins Concise English/Irish dictionaries.
- Research Interests: lexicography, language standardization, contact linguistics, language change, sociolinguistics
- Recent work includes reports on immersion education during the pandemic (2022), linguistic training needs for immersion practitioners (2023), and classroom language policy (2024)
