Simone Datzberger

Dr. Simone Datzberger is a Marie-Curie Research Fellow at the University of Amsterdam's Department of Human Geography, Planning and International Development and a Research Associate at Ulster University's UNESCO Centre. She holds a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Her research examines:

• Education's role in peacebuilding and democratization
• Civil society development in conflict-affected regions
• International development frameworks in sub-Saharan Africa
• UN and NGO interventions in post-conflict societies

She leads the Horizon 2020-funded project 'Democratization through Education' and previously contributed to UNICEF's Education and Peacebuilding consortium. Her scientific recognition includes the Marie-Curie Fellowship.

With extensive fieldwork in Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Mexico, she bridges academic research with practical conflict-resolution experience. She has taught at LSE and will deliver courses at Amsterdam on education and conflict.
