Gary Hix

Prof Gary Hix is a Professor and Head of the Department of Natural Sciences at Middlesex University. His academic journey includes roles as Head of School of Sciences at the University of Wolverhampton (2016–2023), Head of Department at Nottingham Trent University (2015–2016), and Senior Lecturer roles at De Montfort and Nottingham Trent Universities. He holds a BSc and PhD from the University of Exeter, with postdoctoral research in France, Birmingham, and St Andrews.

• Research Focus: Synthesis and characterization of metal phosphonates and inorganic materials for photophysics (luminescence) and antibacterial applications.
