Andrew Sheehan

Andrew Sheehan is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Newman University, serving as Primary Year 1 Tutor. He transitioned from a 9-year career as a Biomedical Scientist specializing in histopathology to education, with teaching experience across secondary schools, moderate learning difficulty schools, and primary schools in Walsall and Birmingham. His qualifications include a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences (University of Wolverhampton, 1999), PGCE in Science (1999), and a PG Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (2013).

• Teaching roles span BA (QTS) Primary Education, PGCE Primary (QTS), Foundation Degree for Teaching Assistants, and Chemistry Subject Knowledge Enhancement courses.
• Research focuses on neuromuscular diseases' impact on student learning and educational experiences.

He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2013) and a member of the Association for Science Education (since 2012). Served as External Examiner for Nottingham Trent University's PGCE Primary Education program (2015–2019).
