Gabriela Mangano is Professor in Geological Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan's College of Arts and Science, with an associate membership in Biology. Her office is located in Geology 334. She researches animal-substrate interactions through geologic time with extensive international fieldwork experience.
Her research examines ichnology in ancient tidal flats, Lower Paleozoic ecosystems, continental ichnofacies, trace fossil paleobiology, and organism-sediment evolution in estuaries. She has authored approximately 170 scientific papers and five books, edited three special publications, and supervised over fifteen graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
Her publications focus on trace fossil analysis, sedimentary environments, and paleoecological reconstructions across geological timescales. Recent work emphasizes zircon geochemistry and Precambrian basin analysis.
Awards:
- 2018 Association of Women Geoscientists Outstanding Educator Award
She serves as co-editor of Palaios and on editorial boards of multiple journals. As Treasurer of the International Ichnological Association and member of SEPM Board and UNESCO IGCP Scientific Board, she maintains significant professional collaborations.
