About
Changiz Taghibiglou is Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Saskatchewan. His research investigates neurodegenerative mechanisms, traumatic brain injury biomarkers, and neuroprotective strategies. Key areas include excitotoxicity, neuronal insulin signaling, and lipid raft functions.
Taghibiglou's lab identified plasma prion protein as a potential concussion biomarker and developed Indip peptide for neuroprotection. He received the 2009 CIHR Brain Star Award for discoveries in neuronal injury mechanisms.
With training in pharmacy and neuroscience, his work spans basic mechanisms to therapeutic applications, including patented biomarker technologies.
