Professor Förch served as a Visiting Professor for Integrated Watershed Management at Makerere University's College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES) from 2013 to 2015. He was affiliated with ZEW/CICD and participated in the DAAD Johann Gottfried Herder Program, supporting capacity building in East Africa.
Research Interests:
- Development of master's programs in Watershed Management
- Sustainable water and soil resource management
- Climate change adaptation through catchment-level planning
- Urban water security
- Conflict resolution in water use
His work focused on field surveys across Uganda, Congo, and Liberia, with financial support from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUB) via the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and the CCAFS program.
