Frode Helland is Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Professor of Nordic Literary Studies at the University of Oslo. He earned his Cand.Philol. (1992) and Dr.art. in Nordic Literary Studies (1998) from the same institution. Previously, he held academic positions at NTNU as Associate Professor (1997-2001) and Professor (2001-2004).
Research Focus
Helland's research spans two primary domains:
- Ibsen Studies: Evolving from textual analysis to theatre studies, reception history, and digital humanities approaches.
- Racism Research: Investigating racist rhetoric in Norwegian society through discourse analysis and quantitative methods, spanning historical and contemporary contexts.
His interdisciplinary work integrates digital humanities, performance theory, and critical discourse analysis.
