Frederick Gardner

Frederick Gardner is Assistant Professor of Practice at UT Dallas' Bass School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology. A 3-time Emmy Award winner and member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, he bridges animation industry experience with academic instruction. His professional credits include character design and art direction for productions such as The Simpsons, Powerpuff Girls, and Space Jam.

Gardner teaches visual development and environment design, emphasizing composition principles and industry-standard techniques. He leads study abroad programs in Ireland focusing on animation production and coordinates student portfolio reviews at major industry events including CTN Expo and Lightbox Expo.

His pedagogical approach integrates professional practice with theoretical foundations, preparing students for careers in animation production. Current creative work explores cultural representation in animated features and serial productions.
