Frauke Tom H Mennes

Frauke Tom H Mennes is a postdoctoral researcher and anthropologist at the IT University of Copenhagen, affiliated with the Technologies in Practice research section. She previously served as an external lecturer at the University of Copenhagen and as a project manager at a Danish fertility clinic.

Frauke's research spans diverse interdisciplinary domains including reproductive technologies, queer families, and the critical intersection of climate change with digital technologies. She investigates political violence in rural South Asia while maintaining a strong focus on medical anthropology through examinations of gender, kinship, race, medical authority, midwife practices, donor selection, and intra-clinical negotiations—work deeply informed by her frontline experience at a fertility clinic. Her anthropological approach bridges technological practice with socio-cultural analysis across multiple global contexts.

She actively contributes to the Technologies in Practice research section at the IT University of Copenhagen, where her work examines how digital systems integrate into and transform everyday social realities through empirical fieldwork and critical theoretical frameworks.
