Franziska Lang is a Professor of Classical Archaeology at the School of Architecture, Technische Universität Darmstadt, where she has held a full professorship since October 2008. She previously served as a substitute professor and led the Classical Archaeology Chair at TU Darmstadt (2006-2008) and held research and teaching positions at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2001-2006), Universität Rostock (1999-2001), and Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (1992-1997). She earned her PhD in 1991 from Freie Universität Berlin with a dissertation on early Greek settlements and completed her Magister Artium in 1987.

She also contributes to archaeological fieldwork in Albania and Greece, including coastal settlements near Apollonia and the Frangonissi necropolis. She has received grants from the Gerda Henkel Foundation, BMBF, and DFG for these initiatives.
Franziska Lang was elected Vice President for Academic Careers at TU Darmstadt on December 7, 2022. Her teaching emphasizes material studies, ceramic analysis, and digital reconstruction techniques, reflecting her interdisciplinary approach to classical archaeology and architectural history.
