Franklin Allen is a Professor of Finance and Economics and Director of the Brevan Howard Centre at Imperial College London (since July 2014). He has held roles such as Associate Dean for Faculty and Research (2019–2020), Vice-Dean (Research & Faculty) (2020–2023), and Interim Dean (2023–2024) within the Business School. Previously, he served at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania from 1980–2016, where he is now Emeritus. He holds a doctorate from Oxford University.

His research focuses on corporate finance, asset pricing, and financial crises. He co-authored multiple editions of the textbook Principles of Corporate Finance with Richard Brealey, Stewart Myers, and Alex Edmans. He has held editorial roles at the Review of Financial Studies and Review of Finance, and has been a past president of the American Finance Association, Western Finance Association, Society for Financial Studies, Financial Intermediation Research Society, and Financial Management Association.
