Dr.-Ing. Frank Riesner is an Honorary Professor at the Wismar University of Applied Sciences, specializing in fire protection planning within the Schools of Civil Engineering and Architecture. He holds a doctorate in engineering (1991) focused on structural fire and explosion protection, following civil engineering studies at Cottbus University of Engineering (1983–1987).
