Frank Casey is a Clinical Professor of Paediatric Cardiology affiliated with Queen’s University Belfast, Ulster University, and Belfast Trust. His role was established through the All-Island Paediatric Cardiology Network to advance academic research and education in paediatric cardiology across Ireland. He has been a Consultant in Paediatric and Fetal Cardiology since 1996 and leads the Northern Ireland Clinical efforts for the All-Island network. His research focuses on neurodevelopmental outcomes in congenital heart disease, telemedicine applications, and genomic studies in cardiac conditions. He co-authored a book on neurodevelopment and congenital heart disease and has secured £3.4M in research funding for a 2022–2027 programme.
Key achievements include international leadership roles, including co-hosting the 2022 European Paediatric Cardiology conference and organizing the 2023 World Congress. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles and delivered 40+ invited lectures globally. Awards include the OBE (2023) and Honorary Fellowship from the Irish Cardiac Society (2023).
His work aligns with UN SDGs, particularly improving health and well-being for children. He supervises trainees in M.D. research and collaborates internationally on projects addressing congenital heart disease challenges.
