Sir Frank Berman KC is Visiting Professor of International Law at the University of Oxford's Faculty of Law and an Honorary Fellow of Wadham College. Former Legal Adviser to the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) with extensive diplomatic experience spanning UN negotiations, International Court of Justice litigation, and arbitration proceedings.
Research focuses on treaty law, dispute settlement mechanisms, humanitarian law, and international organizations. Instrumental in drafting the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court as head of the UK delegation.
Current professional engagements include membership in the Permanent Court of Arbitration and service as Legal Member of the Indus Waters Treaty Court of Arbitration. Previously chaired the Austrian Claims Committee for Nazi persecution victims (2001-2017).
Holds advisory roles with the British Institute of International & Comparative Law and the British Year Book of International Law editorial board.
