Francisco Jorge Oliver Rullán

Dr. Francisco Jorge Oliver Rullán is an Associate Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Balearic Islands' Faculty of Economics and Business. He serves as secretary of the Applied Economics department and maintains an active research and teaching profile within the institution. His office is located in room DB245 on the second floor of the Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos building.

Dr. Oliver earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Balearic Islands and holds a Master's degree in Applied Economics from Pompeu Fabra University. His academic career has been marked by significant contributions to economic research and institutional service, including serving as Vice-dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business from 2009 to 2013.

His research primarily focuses on portfolio decision-making, labor supply behavior under different taxation systems, income redistribution mechanisms, and social welfare analysis. Dr. Oliver employs sophisticated econometric modeling techniques to examine microeconomic theory applications in public finance contexts. His work bridges theoretical economic concepts with practical policy implications, particularly regarding budgetary considerations and fiscal policy design.

Dr. Oliver has established a robust publication record in both national and international journals indexed in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). His work appears in prestigious outlets including the Journal of Economic Inequality, Review of Income and Wealth, Economica, and International Journal of Manpower, alongside leading Spanish journals such as Revista de Economía Aplicada and Hacienda Pública Española.

He is an active member of the Economic Analysis and Modelling (GAME) research group, a consolidated R+D+I structure at the university. His teaching portfolio includes Macroeconomics, Macroeconomics I, and supervision of Final Degree Projects across Business Administration, Economics, and Tourism programs, including double-degree combinations. For the 2025-26 academic year, he will also teach Monitoring and Evaluation for Optimal Governance in the Master's Degree in Economics of Tourism.
