University of California, IrvineAbout
Francis White is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), affiliated with the Department of Mathematics. His research focuses on semiclassical and microlocal analysis, mathematical physics, and several complex variables. He holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from UCLA (2022), supervised by Michael Hitrik, and has conducted postdoctoral research at Université Sorbonne Paris Nord under Francis Nier. Prior to this, he participated in the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) program on Microlocal Analysis in 2019.
His research interests emphasize the intersection of analysis and mathematical physics, particularly in studying hypoelliptic operators, spectral theory, and the propagation of singularities in PDEs. Recent work explores global subelliptic estimates, L^p-bounds for eigenfunctions and semigroups, and geometric Kramers-Fokker-Planck operators. Collaborations include projects with Francis Nier, X. Sang, and others in France and the U.S.
White’s academic trajectory includes teaching and research roles at UCI and Paris Nord, alongside active participation in seminars such as LAGA PDE and the International Zoom Inverse Problems Seminar. His contributions span theoretical advancements in operator theory and microlocal geometry, with applications to quantum mechanics and stochastic processes.
