Francesco Musco

Francesco Musco serves as a full professor in Urban Planning at the Department of Architecture and Arts, Iuav University of Venice. He directs the graduate degree programme in Planning and Policies for Cities, Territory and Environment and the Erasmus Mundus Master Course on Maritime Spatial Planning. Previously, he held the position of Deputy Rector for Research (2018-2021) and serves on the board of directors of the CORILA Consortium for Coordination of research activities concerning the Venice Lagoon System.

His research integrates urban planning with sustainability and resilience, emphasizing sustainable urban regeneration and climate-proof planning methodologies. He founded the Planning & Climate Change Lab in 2011, which has secured over 7 million euros in research grants (2011-2019) and conducts applied international research on urban resilience innovation.

As a consultant for public and private institutions, Professor Musco contributes expertise in urban planning, environmental policy design, and local development strategies through a multidisciplinary framework that bridges theoretical research with practical implementation.
