Frances Thielman

Frances Thielman is a Lecturer at Texas A&M University's Department of English, holding a PhD in English and a certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies. She specializes in Victorian literature, medicine in literature, and ecocriticism, with subspecialties in sanitation history, composition studies, and environmental literatures.

Her research interests include 18th- and 19th-century British literature, rhetoric, and the intersection of gender/sexuality with environmental studies. She has published on topics such as public health in Victorian narratives and academic writing pedagogy.

Awarded the Distinguished Dissertation Award (2021) and Staley Creswell Award (2020), her work bridges literature and practical education. She designed writing curricula for English and Civil Engineering departments and trained educators via the Center for Teaching Excellence.

As a certified Master Tutor, she has nine years of experience in writing centers and curriculum development, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to education and research.
