Frances Tanzer is an Associate Professor of History at Clark University’s Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies. Her research focuses on postwar European cultural reconstruction, Holocaust memory, and the role of minorities/refugees in shaping European identity. She holds a PhD in History from Brown University (2018), an MA from Brown (2013), and a BA in History and Visual Arts from the University of Toronto (2010).
Her first book, *Vanishing Vienna: Philosemitism, Modernism, and Jews in a Postwar City* (2024), examines Vienna’s cultural reimagining post-Holocaust. Her second project, *Klezmer Dynasty: An Intimate History*, traces her family’s klezmer musicians through modern Jewish history. Tanzer’s work bridges visual arts, performance studies, and migration narratives.
