Filippo Malandra

Filippo Malandra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University at Buffalo, part of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. His research focuses on Internet of Things (IoT), wireless communications, 5G/4G cellular networks, network performance analysis, smart grid communications, optimization, and machine learning applications.

Recent work emphasizes 5G testbed experimentation (e.g., ExTODS), weather-based signal prediction, and CBRS spectrum analysis. He has explored synergies between federated learning and O-RAN architectures for elastic network services.
