Fernando Bayon Martin

Dr. Fernando Bayón Martín serves as Director of the Institute of Leisure Studies and Lecturer at the University of Deusto's Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from Deusto and has completed visiting scholar positions at numerous international institutions including ETH-Zürich, Cambridge, Princeton, and Yale. His interdisciplinary research explores the intersection of artistic expression, cultural memory, and political identity in contemporary society.

Research interests focus on:

• Critical analysis of artistic languages in political spaces
• Narrative construction of cultural identities
• Philosophical examination of performing arts (opera, musical drama)
• Architectural symbolism in urban environments

Bayón has led multiple competitive research projects including PUBLICUM (transforming audience experiences), Imagineering urban waterfront spaces, and EU initiatives on cultural industry evaluation. He has authored over 100 scholarly publications and co-edited several monographs.
