Fengli Yang is a researcher at the Interface Science Department of the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society. She recently earned her PhD from Freie Universität Berlin with a thesis titled "Operando Insights into the Impact of Electrolyte Impurity Ions on the Structure of Ni/Co-based Electrocatalysts under Electrochemical Oxygen Evolution Reaction Conditions", which was awarded Summa Cum Laude. Her research focuses on understanding how impurity ions like iron influence the structure and activity of electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER).
During her PhD, she conducted her work under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Beatriz Roldán Cuenya, head of the Interface Science Department, and collaborated with the Liquid Phase Electron and X-ray Microscopy Group led by Dr. See Wee Chee. Her defense committee included prominent academics from FU Berlin and FHI, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of her research.
Fengli’s contributions have advanced fundamental knowledge of impurity effects in electrocatalysts, with potential applications for improving energy conversion technologies. Her work demonstrates exceptional expertise in operando characterization techniques and materials science.
