Feng-Chun Yang is a Professor holding The A.B. Alexander Distinguished Chair in Cancer Research at the Mays Cancer Center, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of myeloid malignancies, particularly mutations in ASXL1, ASXL2, PHF6, and NF1 genes.
Current projects investigate cellular mechanisms underlying ASXL1/ASXL2 and PHF6 alteration-mediated myeloid malignancies, cooperative gene mutations accelerating disease transformation, the role of bone marrow niche in hematological malignancies using murine models, and developing novel therapeutic targets. His laboratory studies mutation-specific pathways in myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and acute myeloid leukemia.
Yang seeks to translate basic research into clinical applications for treating mutation-driven myeloid cancers through targeted therapeutic development and microenvironment modulation.
