About
Felix Schaff is a Research Fellow in the Department of Economics at the European University Institute. He holds a PhD in Economic History from the London School of Economics and researches wealth inequality dynamics from the Black Death to the Industrial Revolution.
His work reconstructs historical inequality metrics (Gini coefficients, top wealth shares) using archival sources and examines how political institutions, warfare, and religious transformations shaped economic disparities. Current projects investigate inheritance systems' impact on gender wealth gaps in 16th-century Württemberg.
Schaff collaborates with the CLIC research cluster on inequality and contributes to transnational historical analyses of economic systems. His methodological approach combines econometrics with archival research to trace long-term inequality patterns.
